 First Aid Training
 
Statistics have proven that first aid training saves lives, reduces pain, lessen suffering and increases work productivity.  This is one of the reasons why it is a legal requirement as per the OHS Act of 1993.  All shifts must be covered and at least one First Aider per 50 employees is required. This course has been designed to meet the needs of the industry and to aim at risks at your company.

Note: 

1.  Our course is approved by the Department of Labour CI 327.

2.  Certificates are valid for 2 years.

3.  For students to fully benefit from the contents of the course a standard 8 level of education is recommended.

4.  Dates and venues will be organized to suit your company’s needs.

5.  Name and ID numbers of students is required to make up certificates.

6.  In the event of non-attendance or cancellation, full fees will be charged unless

     written notice is given 7 working days before training.

7.  Traveling cost will be added to final cost – R2.50 per km after 50 km

8.      ID Number will confirm a booking.

9.      Onsite training can be done with a minimum of 10 students.

10.  Certificates will be issued as soon as full payment is received.

First Aid Level 1

Module 1          :      Objectives of First Aid & Safety.           

The Law - Workman’s Compensation / Record Keeping

                             Department of Labour requirements.

                             The First Aider and Emergency scene management.

                    Aids

Module 2          :       Unconsciousness & fainting.

                              Examination of unconscious patient.

                              Shock.

Module 3          :       Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - One rescuer CPR - adult patient.

 Choking.

Module 4          :       Dressing & Bandages.

                              Wounds and bleeding.

                              First Aid box control.  Basic First Aid Equipment OHS Act 85 of 1993.

Module 5          :       Burns.

Module 6          :       Musculo skeletal system.

                              Classification of Fractures.

                              Treatment of Fractures.

Module 7          :       Neck and Spinal injuries.

                              Logroll Four Assistance.

Module 8          :       Will be aimed at Risks in your particular company.

Ø       Hazardous chemicals - Food Industry                      

Ø       Eye injuries – Tour Guides                                      

Ø       Nursery Schools.                                
 
 First Aid Level 2

1.         MINIMUM COMPULSORY CONTENT:

 

a)         Principle of First Aid and Safety; Emergency Scene Management.

b)         Vital signs, primary and secondary examination and evaluation of the patient’s condition.

c)         Artificial respiration for adult, child and infant.

d)         Choking.

e)         One rescuer CPR for adult, child and infant.

f)          Shock, unconsciousness and fainting.

g)         Soft tissue injuries; wounds and bleeding.

h)         Fractures.

i)          Head and spinal injuries.

j)          Joint injuries and rescue transportation.

k)         Chest injuries.

l)          Hand injuries.

m)        Eye injuries.

n)         Multiple injury management.

o)         Pelvic and abdominal injuries.

p)         Environmental illnesses and injuries.

q)         Burns.

r)          Poisoning, bites and stings.

s)         Chest pains and paralysis.

t)          Epilepsy (Fits).

 

2.         MINIMUM DURATION (EXCLUDING EVALUATION):

            a)         22 Hours.

            b)         Alternatively 36 hours (to include Level I course content).

 

3.         MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

            a)         Valid Level I Certificate.

            b)         Literate.


 First Aid Level 3
 
1.         MINIMUM COMPULSORY CONTENT:


a)         Principles of First Aid and Safety; Emergency Scene Management.

b)         Vital signs, primary and secondary examination and evaluation of the patient’s condition.

c)         Artificial respiration for adult, child and infant.

d)         Shock, unconsciousness and fainting.

e)         One and two rescuer CPR for adult, child and infant.

f)          Shock, unconsciousness and fainting.

g)         Soft tissue injuries; wounds and bleeding.

h)         Fractures and the threatened limb.

i)          Head and spinal injuries.

j)          Joint injuries and Rescue Transportation.

k)         Chest injuries.

l)          Hand injuries.

m)        Eye and ear injuries.

n)         Multiple injury management.

o)         Pelvic, abdominal and crush injuries.

p)         Environmental illnesses and injuries.

q)         Burns.

r)          Poisoning, bites and stings.

s)         Chest pains and paralysis.

t)          Epilepsy (fits), breathlessness and skin reactions.

u)         Emergency childbirth.

v)         Behavioural Emergencies.

w)         Applied anatomy and physiology.

x)         Ethics related to emergency care.

y)         The legal aspects of First Aid.

 

2.         MINIMUM DURATION (EXCLUDING EVALUATION):

a)         32 Hours.

 

3.         MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

a)         Valid Level II Certificate.

b)         Literate.

c)                  Standard 7 educational level or equivalent.

 

 

The courses have been designed to fulfill the legal requirements of the OHS Act of 1993, as well as providing the student with the necessary Skill, Attitude and Knowledge in handling a First Aid situation aimed at your company risks.
